• The League of Women Voters of Door County is sponsoring a candidate forum for the four candidates running for Baileys Harbor Town Supervisor. The forum is Tuesday, March 2 from 7 – 9 pm at the Baileys Harbor Town Hall. The event is not a debate, but it will give candidates a chance to answer submitted questions from the audience.

Incumbents Barbara Anschutz and Robert Schultz are up against Roberta Thelen and Ellen Witteborg. In case of inclement weather, the forum will be rescheduled for March 3.

• Northeast Wisconsin Technical College is accepting applications for three positions on its board of trustees. Each appointment carries a three-year term beginning July 1. One member will represent Brown and Outagamie counties, one will represent Oconto County, and one will represent Door County.

Applicants must submit at least two letters of reference supporting their nominations and must attend a public hearing of the District Board Appointment Committee at 5 pm, March 19 at the NWTC Green Bay campus. Application materials are available by calling Mary Jo Tilot at 920.498.5409 or visiting the NWTC district office at 2470 W. Mason Street. Applications are due by 4 pm on Friday, Feb. 22.

• The Egg Harbor Town and Village will meet Feb. 24 to discuss what to do with Fire Station #1 at 6 pm at the Bertschinger Center. The two municipalities traded proposals at a meeting last month.

• Northern Door municipal officials will meet Feb. 25 at 7 pm at the Liberty Grove Town Hall to discuss forming a Fire District in Northern Door County. The round table discussion is open to the public but discussion is by invitation only. A fire board or commission would have to be formed to oversee the departments.

• A Career Day for Door and Kewaunee County 8th grade students will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 9 am – 2:30 pm at NWTC-Sturgeon Bay. The Career Day is sponsored by the Door Kewaunee Business & Education Partnership, NWTC and the Sturgeon Bay Noon Rotary Club. The Career Day program gives area students an understanding of local career clusters and the variety of occupational opportunities available; information about the skills that employers are looking for; and recommendations about what courses and extracurricular activities they might participate in during their high school years to prepare them to enter the local workforce.
