Fiber Internet Project Enters Phase II On Island

Quantum Technologies, in partnership with Washington Island Electric Cooperative, announced that fair weather and other factors in late 2023 made it possible to connect 300 homes rather than the scheduled 225 in the first full year of work on the Washington Island fiber-optic internet project.

Vital services, such as emergency services and the school, gained high-speed internet first, one year ago.

The project is a five-phase endeavor that aims to connect the entire island to a state-of-the-art, fiber-optic network by 2027.
