First Annual Frozen Tundra Wine Fest

Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery invites the wine drinking public to an outdoor festival to celebrate the uniqueness of the wine-growing and wine-making potential of Northeast Wisconsin. On Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26 and 27 from 3 – 7 pm, Parallel 44, located 15 miles east of Green Bay, will celebrate its first annual Frozen Tundra Fest.

Owners and winemakers Steve Johnson and Maria Milano hope the event will highlight the unique climate, unique grapes, and award winning wines that are being produced here in this part of the world.

“Growing grapes and making wine in this part of the world no doubt presents a great challenge for us,” said Johnson. “But at the same time, it gives us great pride to make these cold or cool climate wines that can not be duplicated in other parts of the wine world.”

In honor of the unique part of the world, Parallell 44 will be releasing a wine at the festival named “Frozen Tundra” made from Frontenac grapes grown at the vineyard. The other three wines to be released that day are named Glacier White, Late Harvest St. Pepin (picked in the snow on December 10), and Frostbite.

A $10 admission fee will offer wine fans an opportunity to taste and purchase the release of four new estate wines, sampled from ice cups, sleigh rides around the vineyard, music, cheese and bread samples, and other food samples available for purchase.
