Fish Creek’s Heritage Days slated for June 4 – 12 will feature a variety of outside activities.

June 4 and 5 is Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend. The public is welcome to borrow a pole from the Peninsula State Park Nature Center, where they can learn to cast, complete a fish-y craft, and view native fish at the tank display. Nan and Jerry’s Bait Shop will feature a local fishing history exhibit from June 7 through June 12. A special presentation that includes boats and fishing lore will take place at 7 pm on June 7 at the Fish Creek Community Center. Dennis Trygvic Jensen, author of Wooden Boats and Iron Men, will present “Fishing, Our Heritage.”

June 7, DNR Naturalist Kathleen Harris will share her knowledge of migratory birds during the “Early Birds of Spring” hike. June 9, flower enthusiasts will enjoy the area’s spring flora on a hike led by Paul and Marilyn Mahlberg, authors of Door County Wildflowers: A Field Guide. Both hikes will take place between 8:30 – 10 am and begin with refreshments at the Settlement Shops. Both hikes are free of charge; donations to Gibraltar Historical Association accepted.

June 8 and 10 at 2 pm, the public is welcome to partake in one of several historical walking tours during Heritage Days. A Sunset Walking Tour will also take place, weather permitting. Guided tours are hosted by Gibraltar Historical Association members and are free of charge. All walking tours will begin at the steps of the Historic Noble House Museum.
