Floral Frenzy in Ellison Bay

Newport House Gallery will host a container exhibit, demonstration, and idea exchange on July 31, 10 am – 4 pm, in the courtyard of the gallery in Ellison Bay.

The gallery owners have sought out and collected numerous one-of-a-kind containers, such as pots, vases, and bowls, which can provide a highly individual and special floral composition. Techniques for creating unique floral arrangements will be shared, allowing guests to gather ideas that will help them hunt for all types of containers on their own.

The basic principles of the Hana-type of Ikebana design, an ancient art of utilizing flowers and plant material, will be discussed and examples will be available for viewing and study. Jane Klozotsky, floral designer, will also be present at the show to demonstrate techniques using dried flowers and plant materials. Klozotsky dries much of her own stock, making her arrangements quite unique.
