Folk Performers at Kick Ash Coffee

Songwriters Anne Heaton of Milwaukee and Wes Collins of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, will join local performer and songwriter Katie Dahl for a concert May 21, 7 pm, at Kick Ash Coffee. They’ll share their songs – firmly rooted in the folk tradition – in an “in-the-round” format, commenting on and adding texture to one another’s work.

Dahl has five studio albums and two original musical plays – Victory Farm and The Fisherman’s Daughters – to her credit, and Wisconsin Public Radio calls her “the real deal.” Heaton has been featured on the New York Times music podcast and has played on NPR, at the Sundance Film Festival and for Lilith Fair. Collins has won the prestigious Grassy Hills New Folk Competition and a North Carolina Arts Council songwriting fellowship and has been a finalist in numerous songwriting competitions.

Tickets for the concert at Kick Ash Coffee, 12001 Mink River Road in Ellison Bay, are $22 in advance and $25 at the door if they’re still available. Purchase them at katiedahlmusic.com.
