Four Days, Four Locations for Earth Day Celebration

Four days of “Every Day is Earth Day” events, kicking off on Thursday, April 18, and taking place at multiple locations, are centered around the theme of “Energy – Making it and Saving it.”
The event features tree plantings, an energy forum and a two-location festival, and wraps with an open mic session. Admission is free.
Thursday April 18, 6 pm – An energy forum led by the Climate Change Coalition of Door County will take place at Door County Medical Center in Sister Bay. Admission is free.
Saturday, April 20, 10-4 pm – Activities at the Earth Day Festival at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor will feature presentations and more from “18 Earth care organizations.”
The April 20 schedule: 10:30 am – “Gardening at the Wood’s Edge” by Russell Rolffs; 11:30 am – “From Food Waste to Plastic with Kathy Navis” by Kathy Navis; 12:30 am – “Native Woody Plants of Door County” by Master Naturalist Tom Wolfe; 1:30 pm – “Herb Walk” with Dave LaLuzerne; 2:30 pm – Open Door Bird Sanctuary visit.
Sunday, April 21, 1-4 pm – The festival moves to Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay, with the theme changing to “Capturing the Sun.” The event will feature guided nature hikes, a Habitat Healers tree planting with The Big Plant leaders, demonstrations, self-guided nature journaling hikes and citizen science.
Monday, April 22, 5-8 pm – Earth Day Celebration Open Mic and jam session at One Barrel Brewing in Egg Harbor. Participants are asked to bring their own music, stories and poems inspired by the Earth. A limited amount of free pizza will be available, and $1 for each pint sold will go to the Every Day is Earth Day Festival.
