Gibraltar Fire Rescue Train with Chainsaws

As part of the Forest Fire Protection grant program administered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Gibraltar Fire Rescue, Gibraltar EMRs, and Gibraltar Police received a matching $4,200 to purchase two chainsaws, an ATV firefighting skid unit, and an eight-hour chainsaw safety class delivered by FISTA, Inc.

On Saturday, March 15, Fire, Law and EMR personnel, spent a total of 10 hours improving their skills. Beginning with four hours of classroom theory including dismantling and properly maintaining both saw and chain, and then finishing with six hours out in the woods working in teams to put into practice the best way to clear brush, release the tension on bent saplings, and fell large trees.
