Door County Interiors & Design took a green approach to projects at two large Door County inns this year.

The Newport Resort in Egg Harbor updated 59 one and two-bedroom suites with new carpeting in April. The old carpet was donated to St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in Green Bay, where it is now being sold as area rugs.

At the Bay Shore Inn in Sturgeon Bay new granite countertps and cabinets were installed, and the old laminate countertops were removed from kitchens in 33 suites and donated to St. Vincent de Paul as well. The former cabinet doors were used to heat a Door County home in the winter.

“Basically, everything we pulled out of those projects was recycled. It was a project within a project,” said Carol Trimberger, owner of Door County Interiors & Design.

Door County Interiors & Design is based on Hwy 42, just south of the village of Egg Harbor.
