“Barn with a View” by Dave Hackett.

The Jacksonport Craft Cottage, now celebrating 25 years in Door County, is pleased to welcome the outstanding work of David Hackett into their premier collection of Amish Quilts, fine art and crafts.

Dave Hackett is a local watercolorist and pen and ink artist. He is a Wisconsin native and resides in Fish Creek. Hackett majored in fine art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and enjoyed a career as an art director, graphics designer and illustrator with two ad agencies and his own graphics design studio in Milwaukee.

Door County has been a subject of his drawings and paintings for 40 years. His wife, Carol has deep roots in Fish Creek as her grandfather, A. E. Doolittle, was the developer and first superintendent of Peninsula State Park, and her mother was raised in Fish Creek.

Many of Hackett’s watercolors, as well as his pen and ink drawings, feature popular Door County scenes and landscapes, from barns and lighthouses to nautical scenes, wildflowers and historic landmarks.

Hackett specializes in commissioned work and has many of his originals in private collections. He joins other displaying artists, Kari Anderson, Audrey Off, Bridget McCabe Matzke, Gail Ring, Richard Delcarson, Sandra Pierre, Pat and Ken Klitzman and Marion Orlock along with over 100 others.
