Health Programs at United Methodist Church

Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church will host a number of health programs in November. The Door County Parkinson Disease Support Group will meet on Nov. 6 from 12:30 to 2 pm. Dr. Chona Antonio from Ministry Door County Medical Center is the speaker for this month. Dr. Antonio will speak about the use of acupuncture for help with symptoms of Parkinson Disease. Anyone with Parkinson Disease, their caregivers or anyone interested in learning more about the disease are welcome to attend. For more information call 920.743.3476.

“Taking Care of Your Diabetes – Newer Trends in Care” will be held Nov. 13 at 6:30 pm. Presenters for this program are Carmen Schroeder, dietitian, and Ruth Norton, RN; they are both specialists in diabetes care from Ministry Door County Medical Center. This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments by the Wellness Committee will be served after the program.

On Nov. 21, 10 am – noon, there will be a training for volunteers interested in helping with developing a Memory Café in Door County. The Memory Café is an informal social setting for those with early memory loss and their family/friends. This free training is for professionals and others who would like to attend and will be presented by Beverly Bartlett from the Alzheimer’s Association. Call Carol at 920.743.3476 to register.
