Historic Sites Open For Season

The Door County Historical Society’s two historic and interpretive sites are now open for the season, each celebrating special anniversaries: Eagle Bluff Light Station in Peninsula State Park and Heritage Village at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

This season marks Eagle Bluff Light Station’s 150th anniversary and the Door County Historical Society’s 55th season as its caretaker. Eagle Bluff is open daily from 10 am to 3:30 pm. Guests are taken on a guided tour of the lighthouse. Group tours are available with advance reservation.

Heritage Village at Big Creek at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay begins its 25th season. The Village is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am – 3 pm through Oct. 13. The new Madden Tool Museum is open Tuesday mornings and Thursdays. The blacksmith demonstrations are Tuesdays through Thursdays 11 am – 2 pm. Four festival dates highlight the season including Root Beer Festival & Craft Fair on July 7, German Festival and Blacksmith for a Day on Aug. 4, Vintage Day on Sept. 1, and Apple Day on Oct.13.
