Honeybees, Flower Programs Highlights at Crossroads

The Door County Beekeepers Club will share the fascinating world of honeybees through hands-on interactive activities and demonstrations Aug. 20, 9 am – 11 am, both inside and outside at Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.

While you’re there, consider joining the Habitat Healers, 9:30-11:30, to help with land-restoration efforts. Instruction, equipment, gloves, lemonade and cookies are all provided.

Learn about the native plants in Crossroads’ meadow Aug. 23, 6:30 pm. The program will start inside with a brief, illustrated lecture by interpretive naturalist Coggin Heeringa; then participants will take a short ramble through the meadow to observe the plants up close.

Join program director Corey Batson to learn how to press flowers Aug. 25, 6:30 pm, while exploring which flower species are native and which are not. Participants will receive their own plant press and practice on some local invasive species.
