Husby’s Hosts Fundraiser to Preserve Historical House

Husby’s Food & Spirits will host an all-day fundraiser and a 50/50 on Tuesday, March 12 and share a portion of proceeds from 11 am to 9 pm to help with maintenance and a recently discovered repair need for Sister Bay Historical Society’s Old Anderson House Museum.

Curator Roberta Kutlik said she’s grateful to Husby’s, because the 149-year-old house already needed paint and maintenance before volunteers discovered a problem inside the front door.

Bob Jischke helps keep up the buildings and said, during the Christkindlmarkt, volunteers noticed damaged, spongy flooring. He hopes it’s just bad floorboards and not rotted joists, but even before this discovery, he estimated the needs at the house at more than $25,000.

Kutlik said the home was built in 1875 but moved across the ice to Door County around 1895.

Husby’s is located at 10641 Bay Shore Drive, Sister Bay.
