Hwy 42 Resurfacing Start Delayed To April 8

A winter storm pushed back the start of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WiDOT) state Highway 42 resurfacing project to Monday, April 8.

Originally scheduled to start April 3, the project from the Hwy 42/57 split in the Town of Sevastopol to Rainbow Ridge Court north of downtown Egg Harbor includes replacement of culverts, addition of a turn lane at Monument Bluff Road and resurfacing the length of the project.

Hwy 42 will be closed and detoured to thru traffic but be accessible to local traffic. Motorists can consider themselves local traffic if they live, shop, work or have another stop within the road closure area that’s only accessible directly from Hwy 42, according to an update at villageofeggharbor.org/hwy42. The WiDOT updates appear at projects.511wi.gov/wis42shore

The state’s official detour uses Hwy 57 to County Road V to County Road A to County Road EE.

The project has a 50-day working contract, which equates to two to three months of construction, the village noted on April 2. The crew is required to halt work by June 28 whether finished or not. Detours will be temporarily lifted, where possible, on weekends from Memorial Day to June 28, the village noted.
