Isadoora Announces Open Auditions for Painting Churches

Isadoora Theatre Company calls actors and aspiring talent to open auditions for its May production of Tina Howe’s Painting Churches, directed by John Wilson.

Painting Churches is a semi-autobiographical story that honors and analyzes its subjects in a captivating collage of resonant drama, poignant revelations, and hearty, life-inspired laughs. The portrait for which the play is named exists both on canvas and in the lovingly sketched portrayals of its three characters: an aging couple, preparing to leave the Boston townhouse they’ve lived in for decades, and their daughter, a painter on the verge of artistic celebrity who comes home to help them pack up.

The play includes three roles: one male aged 65-80, one female aged 65-75, and one female aged 35-45. A prepared piece is not necessary for your audition, but will be considered if you have one. Scripts will be provided at the auditions for readings.

Auditions will take place on Monday, March 1 and Tuesday, March 2 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Monday’s auditions will be held at Bjِrklunden, located just south of Baileys Harbor off of Highway 57; Tuesday’s auditions will be held at Hope Church, 141 S 12th Ave, Sturgeon Bay.

Questions regarding auditions should be directed to John Wilson at 920.839.5101 or 920.839.9203.

Performances will be May 13-16 and 20-23, 2010 at the Ephraim Village Hall. The show plays Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm.
