Jack O’ Lanterns Blaze at Hands On

On October 28 and 29, in conjunction with Jack O’ Lantern Days in downtown Fish Creek, Hands On Art Studio is presenting the 1st Annual Jack O’ Lantern Blaze – a pumpkin carving event ending in a lighting ceremony.

“There doesn’t appear to be any Wisconsin record for number of pumpkins carved and lit in one place,” said Karon Ohm, co-owner of Hands On. “The national record is 30,128, set on October 21, 2006 on Boston Commons.”

“We have no delusions of grandeur that we can even approach that number of Jack O’ Lanterns,” said Cy Turnbladh, co-owner, “but we can at least start a fun competition and event in Fish Creek.”

There will be prepared pumpkins of various sizes ready for carving, along with carving tools, and the Jack O’ Lantern Blaze will culminate in a lighting ceremony at 5:30 pm on October 29.

“We encourage as many families and individuals as possible to participate in this free event,” says Turnbladh. There will be free hot cider and refreshments available.

Prizes will be awarded for the Scariest Jack O’ Lantern, Funniest Jack O’ Lantern and Cutest Jack O’ Lantern, and all carvers can enter a drawing for a giant pumpkin

Hands On Art Studio is open daily from 10 am – 6 pm for families and individuals and 6:30 pm – 10 pm on Friday nights for those 21 and older
