• The Door County YMCA and Ridges Sanctuary have partnered to create the “No Family Left Inside” program this winter. The series is designed to provide outdoor experiences for parents and children to explore Door County.

The first program is a snowshoe hike at the Ridges Sanctuary on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 am – noon. Cost is $10 per family.

• Design work continues by JJR Engineers on the new Sister Bay swim dock extension. JJR is preparing permit applications for review by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in hopes of starting construction in the fall of 2010.

• The Door County Tourism Zone Commission will meet Jan. 21 in Egg Harbor (location to be determined) at 9 am. The commission will discuss its policy for handling late payers and non-permitted lodging facilities.

• The Village of Egg Harbor will meet with the Town of Egg Harbor Jan. 20 to discuss what to do with Fire Station Number 1 on Harbor School Road. Egg Harbor Village Board President Nancy Fisher said the old station continues to deteriorate and each municipality has had independent appraisals done. At the meeting the town and village will present sealed envelopes to each other with their best offer for rebuilding or renovating the fire station.

The meeting will be held at the Carlsville station on County I at 6 pm. The meeting was originally scheduled for Dec. 9 but was postponed due to a snowstorm.

• The Sister Bay Village Board will meet Jan. 12 at 6 pm at the Sister Bay fire station on Mill Road.

• The Door County Health Department reminds residents that H1N1 vaccine clinics are still available. The free vaccines are available Jan. 12 from 3 – 5:30 pm at the Door County Government Center. No appointments will be taken for the walk-in clinic.

Another clinic is scheduled for Jan. 28 from 1 – 4 pm at the government center.
