Jaroshes to Lead Historical Society Program “Amish Reflections”

The Door County Historical Society will host its monthly dinner meeting featuring “Amish Reflections,” a presentation by Joe and Sue Jarosh on Nov. 23. The dinner meeting will be at 6 pm at Leathem Smith Lodge.

Door County Historical Society Members Sue and Joe Jarosh have spent more than 25 years in close contact with various Amish families from Pennsylvania to Iowa, and most states in between, to secure handcrafted Amish quilts for their store, Jacksonport Craft Cottage. They will share memories and recollections of the Amish they have come to know, love and appreciate. The Jaroshes will relate history and insight into the Amish lifestyle and the rules and religion that govern their lives.

The Jaroshes have owned and operated the Jacksonport Craft Cottage for more than 31 years and have recently sold it and will be retiring. In retirement they plan on continuing community volunteerism.

Leathem Smith Lodge will serve a family style dinner of meatloaf, smoked ham, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, a selection of veggies, homemade cookies and coffee; a cash bar will be available.

The dinner program fee for guests is $24 and $20 for members. For advance reservations, call 920.421.2332 or email [email protected].
