Jeanquart 1st, Englebert 2nd at Rocket Scramble

Southern Door’s wrestling team captured two top-two individual finishes competing Saturday at the 15-team Rocket Scramble tournament hosted by Cedar Grove-Belgium High School.

The Eagles’ top finisher was Hayden Jeanquart, who placed first at 170 pounds.

“Hayden worked his technique and took his time setting things up,” said Southern Door head coach Jerry Englebert. “After a first round bye, he secured pins in each of his next four matches. [He’s] really looking sharp as we are in the mid-season stretch.”

Trevor Englebert finished second at 138 pounds.

He entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed and upset the No. 3 seed, Anthony Zucchi of Valders, with a pin in the final seconds of his second match.

Trevor Englebert pulled another upset with a 3-2 decision in his third match against Collin Kelly of Oostburg.

After losing on a pin to top-seeded Nikita Adamov of Wauwatosa, Trevor Englebert finished the tournament by winning an 8-5 decision over Garett Deiter from Brillion.

Three other Southern Door wrestlers, Mason Motquin (120), Wyatt Wilke (132) and Jonas Jandrin (182), finished fifth with 4-1 records.

Following Thursday’s quadrangular meet at Kewaunee also involving Luxemburg-Casco and Little Chute, next Saturday the Eagles’ boys wrestlers will be at the Cutler Classic in New London and the girls will be in Muskego.
