Ken Cowan Performs in Door County

The dazzling artistry of one of America’s finest concert organists will be heard on July 24 at 7 pm, when Ken Cowan appears in concert at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay.

Praised for his imaginative programming and impeccable technique by audiences and critics alike, Cowan maintains a rigorous performing schedule that takes him to major concert venues across America, Canada and Europe. He will arrive for his first visit to Door County only days after appearing as the featured soloist with the National Academy Orchestra in the concluding concert of the Hamilton Organ Festival (Ontario, Canada).

For his Door County audience, Cowan has chosen a program that features works displaying variety of musical styles.

Cowan, currently assistant professor of organ at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey, graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and received his Master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. He has released a number of recordings including Ken Cowan Plays Romantic Masterworks and The Art of the Symphonic Organist Volume 4.

A reception following the concert will provide audience members an opportunity to greet Cowan. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit future musical events at the church. For more information call 920.854.2988.
