Len’s Pic of the Week: Young Eagles In The Sky

Every year the EAA holds their Young Eagles Rally at the Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport. It’s an awesome event where local pilots take kids for a ride in their airplanes. Normally I concentrate on closeups of the kids and the excitement on their faces. This year I wanted to step back a bit and show a more encompassing view. This photo was one of my favorites. The bright colors of the float plane make it pop out from the incredible sky and cloud patterns that were present Saturday, June 2. What really makes the image for me is that you cannot only see the pilot but also the young passenger gazing back to the ground and her family below. The fact that you can just make out her face and gaze really tells the story of what the Young Eagles program is all about.
