Letter to the Editor: We Gotta Stop Hatin’ on Each Other

I’ve been reading the letters to the editor that oppose the Trump administration and now I’ve also read two recent letters from people who support the president. But I was struck by what I think is a glaring difference between the two sides:  the anti-Trump side is directing its anger at elected officials such as Trump and Ron Johnson. The pro-Trump side is directing its anger at the anti-Trump side. And therein lies the problem in my opinion:  we gotta stop hatin’ on each other.

Trump detractors have every right to express their opinion, just as Trump supporters have every right to express theirs. I encourage Trump supporters to do so – but with letters that praise Trump or Scott Walker, or with anti-Tammy Baldwin letters maybe. They’re all public figures. Just don’t go after private citizens because they have a different political viewpoint than you. (By the way, this also applies to anti-Trumpers attacking pro-Trumpers – I’ve seen plenty of that too.) We’re all Americans – even neighbors – we’re all in this together. I wish we’d start acting like it more.
