Letter to the Editor: Put It In Perspective

Maybe I’m selfish but if any pollster would ask me how I’m doing under Obama’s leadership I would say just fine. I’m not sure if the Affordable Care Act had anything to do with it but since it started, our (my wife and I) monthly premiums have gone from $495 to about $321 with the same coverage and deductible. I just paid less than $2 a gallon for gas. I realize Obama has little to do with this but you can bet that if gas was climbing some people would blame him and start yelling “Keystone Pipeline.” I am old enough not to be seriously affected by it but I am glad that under Obama’s leadership the world is getting serious about escalating climate change.

We haven’t had a major terrorist attack in the country since 9/11 and the closest we have come to it are by homegrown nuts who are able to get guns thanks to our lack of intestinal fortitude to face up to the NRA. I like the fact that we don’t have weekly lists of casualties to read about from wars in the Middle East and that European countries, including Russia, are pitching in against ISIS, ISIL or whatever and that Obama has steered us away from a go-it-alone policy. I think it’s important that people avoid being influenced by someone with an anti-Obama agenda telling them how bad off they are, or will be, and simply evaluate their own situation.
