Letter to the Editor: Reflections

During this most holy season, a “reflection” over the past year is what a lot of us do. Things we are grateful for: family, friends or whatever was important to us. If we were lucky we would have realized that joy is not in things but is in us.

Much has been said, written and talked about our second amendment, “the right to bear arms.” I think that a good many of us have forgotten the “other” second, and it’s been around a lot longer. The second commandment, “love your neighbor as yourself.” What would our world be like if that was shouted out instead of hate and fear? This coming year we can choose to be a little more caring, a little kinder, more understanding, slow to judge and generous to our fellow man. Then this world of ours would really be a “little bit of heaven” right here on earth.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.
