Letter to the Editor: Who is Really Pro-Life?

Really, all Americans are pro-life. We value life. Every morning we wake up ready to live another day. So saying one is “pro-life” should not be controversial.

But one of our political parties misuses that term. They vote against a living wage for working families, against family-planning funding, against a $35 insulin-cost cap, against paid family leave, against free prenatal care, against universal health care, and against the extended child tax credit. But they do vote in favor of forcing a 10-year-old rape survivor to give birth.

Are those positions really pro-life?

In my opinion, the only political party that comes close to being a pro-life party is the Democratic Party. Democrats have consistently promoted policies that make life better, that support families, and that respect differences in the life experiences of individuals. If you are pro-life, vote for the party that means it when they say it.
