Celebrate the 15th annual Lights On Afterschool on Oct. 23. Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities.

To celebrate, at 4:15 pm, the Boys & Girls Club of Door County will have a special reading of a proclamation prepared by Thad Birmingham, Mayor of Sturgeon Bay, declaring October 23rd the official Lights on Afterschool Day in Sturgeon Bay. This will be followed by a check presentation of $4,500 from the AT&T Foundation. At 4:30 pm, Representative Frank Lasee will receive an honorary membership card for his support of statewide afterschool funding and tour our new facility in downtown Sturgeon Bay.

Additional activities between 4:30 and 6 pm include an air boat demonstration by the United States Coast and Tech GYRLS, a program run in partnership with the Green Bay YWCA and the Women’s Fund of Door County.
