Make a Resolution to Donate Blood

The American Red Cross asks eligible blood donors to make a resolution to give blood regularly in 2015, beginning with National Blood Donor Month in January. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with O negative, A negative and B negative.

Two blood drives are scheduled in Door County, both at St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church. One will be held Jan. 12, from 12 to 6 pm, and the next is Jan. 13, from 9 am to 3 pm. Appointments can be made by calling 800.733.2767, visiting redcrossblood.org, or walking in during the event.

All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age – or 16 with parental consent – weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
