Malin Ekman “Lights Up” Wine Bottle

Orchard Country Winery & Market will release the fourth edition of its Door County Lighthouse Wine featuring an image of Plum Island Lighthouse by artist Malin Ekman on Saturday, May 14 from 10 am – 5 pm.

Featured artist and illustrator Ekman is well known for her unique style and vibrant use of color and oils. “I was intrigued by the project and the lighthouse restoration efforts taking place to preserve these special pieces of Door County history,” she said. Her original artwork and prints are available at Cottage Row Framing & Gallery, located onsite in Orchard Country’s big red barn.

The event will include complimentary wine, cheese and farm market food tastings, free guided winery tours, the chance to enter a drawing to win a Door County Lighthouse package valued at $100, and the opportunity to meet Ekman, who will be signing the lighthouse-shaped blue bottle that displays her artwork from 1 – 3 pm.

Plum Island Lighthouse was the first light designed to guide ships through the Port des Morts passage in 1846. In early 2000, the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation placed the Plum Island Light Station on its list of the State’s Ten Most Endangered Historic Properties.
