Master Gardeners Celebrate the Garden Door

The Door County Master Gardeners Association announces the first in a series of new educational events celebrating the 12th anniversary of their free public display garden, the Garden Door.

Join the Master Gardeners in the Garden Door on July 26 at 7 pm for a 90-minute program featuring three speakers with presentations utilizing the garden for demonstration purposes. “Growing Shrub Roses in a Northern Climate” will feature the Master Gardener’s own Christine Gritzmacher and the garden’s rose collection. UW-Extension Research Intern Becky Wiepz will speak about “Growing Grapes in Wisconsin.” Jim Friedrichs, a Door County Master Gardener, will discuss “Growing Cacti in Northern Wisconsin.” Yes, it can be done, and there are cacti in the Garden Door that prove it! Each presentation lasts roughly 20 minutes and there will be time for questions.

The garden is located on Highway 42 just north of Sturgeon Bay, on the grounds of the UW Peninsular Agricultural Research Station. For further information, visit the Door County Master Gardener website at dcmga.org.
