Mike Orthober Adds to “Seasons of Life” Display

Master taxidermist, Mike Orthober of Egg Harbor, will be at the Door County Historical Museum on June 16 mounting a specimen for the “Seasons of Life” display. Orthober created the diorama over a period of years and continues to add birds and animals.

Orthober is well known in the taxidermy field, and won many national and worldwide awards. He recently was awarded “Best in World” for warm-water fish mounting and “2nd in World” for a non-game bird. He also judges World Taxidermy Championships and teaches taxidermy methods to others.

The museum, open daily from 10 am to 4:30 pm, is located at 18 N. 4th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. Since 4th Avenue is under construction, the Michigan Street entrance is open and parking is available there. Museum admission is free, but donations are welcome to benefit exhibits and programming.
