Miller Art Museum Launches Sketchbook Challenge

The Miller Art Museum invites the community to participate in a sketchbook challenge to document this unprecedented time and will provide free sketchbooks to participants. Pick up a blank sketchbook anytime after 5 pm on March 30 from the literature box outside the south door of the museum’s office, 360 Nebraska St.

In February, the Miller Art Museum launched a weekly community sketchbook challenge that invites submissions to #millersketchbookchallenge, which is featured on the museum’s Facebook page every Thursday.

Anyone may participate in the project by filling the sketchbook with words, poetry, drawings, observations, photographs, collages or anything else that documents this moment in time and subsequent weeks and months. The book may not be returned empty, and it must retain its original dimensions. There is a limit of one sketchbook per person; the books will be available while supplies last.

In addition to or in place of a sketchbook, community members and artists are encouraged to hashtag #millersketchbookchallenge with a Facebook post of your sketchbook or any other medium of work, and the museum will consider it for inclusion in its upcoming postings.

The current exhibition, Wade in Water, Into the Field: Paintings by Judi Ekholm is available as a virtual tour at millerartmuseum.org.
