More Birders Needed for Bird Atlas II

The Wisconsin Breeding Bird Atlas II needs the help from people who care about Wisconsin’s environment and the role that birds play in it. They need more volunteer birders to join their flock of citizen scientists in 2016.

Last year, more than 700 birders statewide participated in the Atlas. This year they’re aiming to grow the base of Atlasers to more than 1,000, especially in less populated regions of the state.

To kick off the upcoming season of data collection, birders from around the state will gather April 1–3, 2016, at the Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center in Wausau for a weekend of all things Atlas:  field trips, training for both first-timers and veterans, eBird workshop, tips from the experts, and more. Birders of all stripes are welcome.

Advance registration (includes field trips, training, Saturday lunch, snacks, and a free Atlas item) costs $25 by March 12. Events, speakers, and full registration details can be found at wsobirds.org/season-2-atlas-kickoff.
