Music in the Schools

Some of Birch Creek’s Big Band Jazz faculty musicians provided music education Oct. 10 for nearly 300 elementary, middle and high school students from general music, choir and band programs at several area schools. 

Pianist Reggie Thomas, guitarist Rick Haydon and bassist Jeff Campbell made stops at Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay and Sevastopol schools as part of Birch Creek’s Artists in the Schools program, which began in 2002 as a way for Birch Creek and its faculty to give back to the community. Each year (except when COVID-19 protocols put the program on hold), nationally acclaimed faculty return to Door County to share their talents and experiences with local public-school music students.
