New Social-justice Initiative Starts in Door County

We Welcome ALL is a new social-justice initiative in Door County that affirms the worth and dignity of all individuals. A collaborative of eight nonprofit organizations and faith communities is supporting this initiative to continue fostering a welcoming and respectful community for all people who live in, work in and visit Door County. Sponsors are the Door County Civility Project, Ephraim Moravian Church, Hope United Church of Christ, JUST Door County, PFLAG Door County, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Stella Maris Parish and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County.

Businesses may also participate in We Welcome ALL by posting a window cling on their doors or windows. Participants receive a brochure explaining the initiative, a window cling and a handout that suggests strategies to use when witnessing an act of harassment or discrimination. In order to safely address acts of harassment and discrimination, a “bystander/upstander” workshop will be offered April 30, 9 am – 3:30 pm, at the Kress Pavilion in Egg Harbor, with Tracey Robertson from FIT Oshkosh presenting. All are welcome to attend. Register at doorcountycivilityproject.org. Interested business participants should contact Paula Christensen at [email protected].
