News and Notes from the tip of the Door

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• A winter “Listening Session” will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 24 beginning at 6 pm in the meeting room of the Town Hall. The board will listen to residents’ concerns, suggestions, comments and answer questions whenever possible; however, no actions will be taken by the board at this meeting.

• An Open House at the newly remodeled Town Hall has been scheduled for Saturday, February 27 from 2 – 4 pm.

• The Economic Sustainability Committee is in the process of finalizing its Mission Statement. Robert Burke of the UW-Extension Office in Door County specializes in Community Resource Development and is assisting the committee, which has been charged with looking at ways to encourage new business growth and employment within the town, in addition to what may be done to support existing businesses.

• The Plan Commission is continuing its review of the Town Comprehensive Plan, focusing on the General Plan Design Map

• Village Presidents and Town Chairmen plus one trustee or supervisor have been invited to the Town Hall on February 25 to discuss the possibility of forming a Northern Door Fire District, which would pool resources and personnel from participating municipalities.

• Upon recommendation of the IT Committee after looking into a Reverse 911 system, the town board and office are participating in a system of alerts to emails and cell phones to see if it would be a viable option to alert town residents to emergencies, meetings and important information.

• A round table discussion is being planned on how to attract families and businesses to Liberty Grove. A number of area residents who utilize the Internet as part of their jobs have agreed to participate. A date has not been set at this time.

• Town committee and board meeting times, as well as meeting minutes and agendas, are posted on the town’s Web Site, http://www.libertygrove.org.
