Obituary: Dan Janisse

Dan Janisse died peacefully in Baileys Harbor, Wisconsin on Jan. 11 at the age of 60.

Dan is survived by his three sons, Chris, Alex and Matt Janisse, all of Sister Bay and his former wife Janet Janisse, Sister Bay.  He is further survived by his brothers Jim (Pam), Cedarburg, WI and Steve, Eagle River, WI, sisters Kathy (Tom) Thompson, New Berlin, WI and Kay Janisse Goodwin, Port Washington, WI.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends.  Dan’s parents Butch and Marie Gill Janisse preceded him in death.

Dan was born in Cascade, WI on March 7, 1956.  He was a member of the Class of 1974 at Plymouth High School, Plymouth, WI.  Dan worked most recently as Property Manager at Sister Bluff Estates, in construction with Carlson Erickson Builders, bartending and restaurant work in Door County, Florida and Louisiana.  He was a volunteer firefighter in Baileys Harbor and Egg Harbor.  He was a glass blowing artist in Door County as well.

Dan was an avid Packers fan.  He made friends easily wherever he went.  On January 10th, Dan celebrated 13 months of sobriety.  He fought hard to achieve that milestone.  He was most proud of his 3 sons and his love for them kept him strong.  After his three boys, he was proud of his sobriety.

The visitation for Dan will be held at Stella Maris Baileys Harbor, 8013 WI 57, Baileys Harbor, WI on Saturday, January 21st from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will take place at Husby’s in Sister Bay, WI right after the services.  Relatives and friends are asked to break out their Packer gear for the get together at Husby’s.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Dan’s name for those struggling with addiction. Donations may be given to the Daniel Janisse Memorial Fund at any Nicolet National Bank or mailed to the Daniel Janisse Memorial Fund – 10585 Fieldcrest Road – Sister Bay, WI  54234
