Obituary: Gisela Blish

Gisela Blish, 81, of Sturgeon Bay, was reunited with her family in Heaven, April 29, 2016 while at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay following a short illness.

She was born May 25, 1934 in Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Maria (Daunhauar) Hollinger.  Gisela was united in marriage to Gary G. Blish on February 5, 1957 in Germany. They met while Gary was stationed there, serving with the United States Army. Their daughter, Rosemarie was born while they were living in Germany, and their son, Robert was born when they returned to the United States. Gisela and Gary were blessed with over 58 years of marriage together. Gary passed away May 3, 2015.

Following her education in nursing training, Gisela worked as a nursing assistant with the Dorchester and Door County Memorial Hospital.

Gisela and Gary were members of Bay View Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay. She loved her family and attending her grandchildren’s various school and sporting events with Gary. Gisela also attended numerous local and state Lions events with Gary over the years with his membership in the Sturgeon Bay Lions Club.

She was a hardworking and family-oriented woman who truly loved her family and was starting to garden around the house this spring. Gisela also enjoyed quilting and sewing.

She will be missed by her son, Robert Blish of Green Bay; two grandchildren, Ryan and Jennifer; her former daughter-in-law, Kori Blish along with her children, who Gisela considered as grandchildren, Michael and Alli; three sisters, Heidi, Else, and Ursula.

Gisela was welcomed Home by her parents; husband; daughter, Rosemarie Nesbitt; grandson, Justin Nesbitt; and her two sisters, Susie and Ruth.

A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Bay View Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Malek officiating. Gisela will be laid to rest beside her husband, Gary, in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay and at the church, Thursday, from noon until the time of service.
