Obituary: Helen Juanita Rasmussen

Helen Juanita Rasmussen, 93, of the Town of Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay, passed away at home on Friday, March 23, 2018.

She was born July 13, 1924 in Coldwater, KS, the daughter of Ernest and Anna Hannah (Hucklebridge) Carthrae. Helen graduated from Wilmar High School in 1942 and went on to study at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, MO. On February 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Byron Charles Rasmussen at La Jolla Presbyterian Church in La Jolla, CA. Together, they lived in Racine, WI, Wichita, KS, Green Bay, WI, and Sturgeon Bay, WI and shared over 57 years of marriage. Helen and Byron moved to Sturgeon Bay in 2001. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2002.

Helen attended Sturgeon Bay Community Church. She loved spending time and laughing with family and friends. Helen enjoyed going for rides and water walking. She also liked reading and chocolate!

Helen will be missed by her daughter and son, Jan Rasmussen of Sturgeon Bay and Randy (Barbara) Rasmussen; three grandchildren, Erik Rasmussen, Kristen (Tim) Kafer, and Kyle Rasmussen; great-grandson, Carsten Kafer; and many loving nieces and nephews; and other relatives.

She was welcomed Home by her parents; husband; siblings: Ernestine Carthrae Perrin, Victor Carthrae, Stewart (Marion) Carthrae, Jack (Dorothy) Carthrae, and Frances Lyle Carthrae.

Helen was laid to rest in rest in Bayside Cemetery, beside her husband, Byron.

Her family will honor her life with a memorial service held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Sturgeon Bay Community Church.
