OBITUARY: Karen Ann MacDonald

Karen Ann MacDonald, age 62, of Appleton and Fish Creek, died suddenly due to complications from a stroke at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton with her family by her side.

Karen graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1973 and earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising from NWTC. In 1973 she married Daryl Capelle with whom she had 3 sons, Dylan, Dustin and Landon Capelle. They moved to Fish Creek in 1975 to help manage the family business, Bayside Tavern and Cottages. She and Daryl opened Hook, Line and Sinker in 1980 in one of the family cottages, selling bait and tackle and renting mopeds, bicycles and paddle boats. In 1990 she married Peter Becker and together they had one daughter, Camryne Becker., residing in Appleton and managing another family business, Toy ‘n Joy vending company, where Karen was in charge of marketing, design and displays, traveling the world for product procurement.  She and Peter later owned and operated SubMarina Sub Shop in Fish Creek. She also worked for many years in the family business, Bayside Tavern.

Karen especially loved traveling with family and friends on annual trips to Las Vegas, Florida and Costa Rica. She will be remembered for her huge heart, love of life and sweet spirit. She was a devoted mom who was
extremely proud of her children and adored her grandchildren, parents, siblings, relatives and friends. She was the host of family holidays opening her doors to friends and family to share life’s special moments together. She wore her heart on her sleeve, laughed freely and cried easily and made everyone in her company feel loved.

Karen is survived by the love of her life, Bruce Stevenson, her children, Dylan Capelle of Green Bay, Dustin Capelle (Michele) of Appleton, Landon Capelle of Sturgeon Bay, and Camryne Becker (Brett Keller) of St. Petersburg, Florida. Karen is also survived by her mother, Elaine MacDonald (Michael Steele) of Fish Creek, Father, Robert MacDonald (Fran Rickard) of Sister Bay, and siblings, Pat MacDonald (Melaniejane) (Jessica and Devin) of Sturgeon Bay, Christie Weber (Cody and Carley) of Sturgeon Bay, Ronald & Lisa MacDonald (Connor and Lena) of Sister Bay and Robert and Barbara MacDonald (Lauren and Olivia) of Fish Creek. She is further survived by her beloved grandchildren, Dylan, Mason and Aiden Capelle (Appleton) and cherished aunts, uncles, cousins and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, William A. MacDonald (Debbra).

Services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Juddville Aug. 2, followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Frank Kauzlarich. Burial was at Blossomburg Cemetery in Fish Creek and a celebration of life was held at Alexander’s, Fish Creek.
