Obituary: Kathryn ‘Kay’ Grace Bacon

Kathryn “Kay” Grace Bacon, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, formerly of Brussels, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 at her home with family at her side.

She was born April 14, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late Andrew Thomas Pickert and Rose Ann (Crifassi) Pickert. Kay was united in marriage to Roger Charles Bacon, Sr. on November 9, 1963 in Des Plaines, IL. She worked for Southern Door Schools in the grade school library for 32 years. Kay also worked for Scaturo’s Baking Co. and Cafe in Sturgeon Bay and Door County Coffee & Tea Co. in Carlsville.

She was a member of St. Francis & St. Mary Parish in Brussels. Kay was the “best mom ever” to her children and sacrificed a lot for her family. She liked cooking and baking, living on the farm, and loved singing at home around her family, especially to her children. Kay was a loving, giving, and sweet person to her children and everyone she knew. She always looked forward to family get-togethers and reunions.

Kay will be missed by her husband, Roger of Sturgeon Bay; daughter and son, Antoinette (Tod) Zimmerman of Brussels and Roger (friend, Sally Martin) Bacon, Jr. of Appleton; two grandsons, Matt (Jeovanna) Bacon of Tampa, FL and Nick Bacon of West Virginia; sister, Judi (John) Boyer of Fort Meyers, FL; and four nephews, John and Josh (Michelle) Boyer and Michael (Nicole) and Willy (friend, Lauren) Hayes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Rose Pickert; and two brothers and one sister, Daniel “Danny” and Michael “Mickey” Pickert and Mary (Charles “Chuck”) Hayes.

At her request, private services will be held at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Brussels.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
