Obituary: Steven Charles Madden

December 4, 1951 ~ May 15, 2022

Steven Charles Madden, 70, of Egg Harbor, died on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

He was born December 4, 1951 in Sturgeon Bay, son of the late John Patrick and Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Feuerstein) Madden. Steve graduated from Sevastopol High School. Steve was a Merchant Marine from 1971 until his retirement in 2016. He sailed on the Great Lakes for US Steel/Key Lake on various 1,000 foot ships as a watchman/wheelsman.  Led by his brothers, Steve helped construct the Madden Tool Museum at Heritage Village at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. 

On December 16, 1978, Steve and Teri Lynn Grajek were united in marriage at St. Aloysius Church in West Allis. Steve loved gardening and collecting.  He was a kind, loving person who could start a conversation with just about anyone. Steve was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, collect treasures, and drink old-fashioneds with friends.  

Steve will be missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Teri Madden; daughters, Colleen (Jijesh Devan) Madden of Toronto, Canada and Tanya (Jacob) Kinsella of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Arun and Leela Devan and Delia and Fiona Kinsella; siblings, Bill (Barbara) Madden, Sheila (Karl) Ballestad, Mike (Barbie) Madden, and Pat (Joanne) Madden; father-in-law, Leonard Grajek; siblings-in-law, Daniel Grajek, Jayne Jaskolski, and Melissa (David) Peil; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Madden; twin brother, Shawn Madden; nephew, Luke Madden; and mother-in-law, Delia Davidson.

A Celebration of Steve’s life will be held at Huehns Funeral Home on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to Heritage Village at Big Creek for a memorial feature in his honor.
