Parallel 44’s 2016 Frozen Tundra White Wins Award in International Competition

Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery in Kewaunee garnered the distinction of having one of the top 40 wines of the world last month. Its 2016 Frozen Tundra White was awarded a Chairman’s Trophy in New York at the 8th Ultimate Wine Challenge, the world’s platinum standard for wine competitions.

Frozen Tundra White received a score of 95 points and was evaluated among 1,200 wines from around the world judged by a panel of 13 world-class judges including many Masters of Wine, journalists, sommeliers and buyers.

“When I looked at the email from the competition I had to ask my wife to look at the list of winners again because I was not sure it was real,” said co-owner and winemaker Steve Johnson. “As I scanned the list every Chairman’s Trophy Winner was from France, South Africa, Tuscany, and Napa Valley. Then I see Wisconsin, and Frozen Tundra White 2016, Parallel 44 Vineyard & Winery.”

“Maria and I take great pride in this not only for our winery, but also for this region and its enormous potential to get on the world map for wine,” Johnson said.

Three other wines from Parallel 44 and its sister winery Door 44 in Sturgeon Bay also received Finalists Awards. Those wines were 2016 Pink Door, 2016 La Crescent, and 2015 Bubbler. For more information visit Parallel44.com.
