PenArt Iron Pour Sparks Creativity for All

All ages are invited to participate in the seventh annual Iron Pour Event at Peninsula School of Art (PenArt) on Oct. 8, 4 – 8 pm. For $20, each person may create a 5” x 5” iron tile by scratching into a preformed, sand-and-resin mold using simple tools.

“This is one of my favorite PenArt events of the whole year,” said PenArt Executive Director Cathy Hoke. “Anyone, of any skill level, can create an iron tile, from kids to adults. It is such an immediate process. Your design is cast in iron right in front of you, and the molten metal pouring from the furnace at night is amazing to watch.”

From 5-7:30pm, Door County’s own Highland Road bluegrass band will provide live entertainment. Seasonal refreshments will be provided by event sponsors AC Tap, Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market, and Door County Brewing Company.

At dusk, around 6:30 pm, the dramatic pour of white-hot, molten iron begins, continuing until all the tiles are poured. Tiles will be cool enough for participants to take home that evening. Proceeds from the Iron Pour will benefit the art education programs at Peninsula School of Art.

No reservations are needed for the Iron Pour Benefit and there are no tile presales. Donations are taken at the door the day of the event.

PenArt is located at 3900 County F in Fish Creek. For more information, call 920.868.3455 or visit PeninsulaSchoolofArt.org.
