Piggly Wiggly Owners and Customers Give to Koinonia Kupboard

The food pantry at Koinonia Kupboard in the First Baptist Church of Sister Bay got a much needed boost with a $4,200 donation from the customers and owners of the Piggly Wiggly store in Sister Bay last week when the owners, Tom (second from left) and Dan Nesbitt (second from right) and store manager Jay Kita (right) presented a check to Pastor Mark Billington (left) and pantry manager Mabel Peterson (center). “It’s such a big help,” Peterson said, adding, “Jay just never quits giving.” The store asked customers to buy gift cards for the food pantry on Dec. 3, with the store matching the amount raised by customers. “We were happy our customers were willing to be so generous,” said Tom Nelson, adding that while they have been donating to the pantry for years, this was the first coordinated effort involving customers. “We plan on doing it again next year,” he said.
