Planning Your 2014 Garden

The Door County Master Gardeners announce the first two 2014 Continuing Education Programs of the year:  “This is the Green Bay Botanical Garden” and “What’s New for 2014.”

On Jan. 14, special guest Susan Garot, executive director of the Green Bay Botanical Garden, will share her knowledge of the 47 acres of the Botanical Garden and its value as a resource for gardeners. The garden hosts events all year that are educational, cultural and family oriented.

On Jan. 21, members of the public are invited to come and discover the finest new gardening trends, from color and container ideas to new garden styles. Despite the frigid temperatures, spring really is just around the corner and even though Door County gardens may be buried in snow and ice, now is the time gardeners start planning for next summer.

What does the world of gardening have to offer for 2014? Attendees will take a look at the new varieties arriving for 2014 and can then begin to dream about adding the newest and brightest cultivars to their gardens this year.

Kori Zawojski, co-owner of Sunnypoint Gardens & Gift Shop, returns for a third year to point out what’s new; her program is always well-attended and informative, so plan to join the crowd.

The programs, free and open to the public, begin at 7 pm in the Collins Learning Center at Crossroads at Big Creek. For more information contact Bill and Sarah Freyman at 868.1749 or [email protected].
