Play It Forward Was a Success

On Oct. 26, some of Door County’s most popular musicians gathered at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) to perform the second annual “Play It Forward” benefit concert. For the second year in a row, Play It Forward was a success: all told, the concert raised $2,820 in funds for the Scandia Village Partners in Compassion campaign. About a third of the funds raised came from a sponsorship gift by Ministry Door County Medical Center; the rest came from audience contributions and concessions income.

Nicki Scharrig, director of Marketing and Resource Development at Scandia Village, expressed gratitude for the successful fundraising effort.

“Good Samaritan Society—Scandia Village is very grateful to be the recipient of funds from this year’s ‘Play it Forward’ concert,” Scharrig said. “We are honored to be chosen as this year’s charity as we strive to raise the final $1.4 million needed to complete the $8 million ‘Partners in Compassion’ Capital Campaign…. A special thank you to everyone in attendance, especially the wonderful musicians, and event organizer Pete Thelen.”

DCA will kick off its winter season the weekend of Jan. 16-17 with a film screening of Extreme, Loyal, Victorious (a film about the Packers’ fan experience), a lecture about the threat of ISIS in Syria, and a coffeehouse concert by Sturgeon Bay cellist and multi-instrumentalist Hans Christian.
