Player Profile: Ben Anderson

School: Gibraltar

School year: Senior

Sport: Basketball

Position: Center

Do you play other sports? Cross country and track

Do you prefer playing team or individual sports? Why? Team, because the team aspect you can’t match in individual sports. Even with individual sports, it’s the team aspect that makes it for me.

Do you prefer playing offense or defense? Why? Defense, because it comes down to who wants it more and it’s all about hustle.

What’s your pre-game ritual? Chill in the locker room with the guys, listen to music on my iPod and drink a Gatorade right before the game.

What’s your favorite warm-up song? “The Final Countdown” by Europe

What’s been your greatest sports moment so far? It was a home game against Kewaunee last year – coming out on the court pushing my brother [Chris] in his wheelchair. He tore his ACL and it was the first game he could watch. It was close, but we ended up winning.

What’s been the worst? Watching my brother get hurt during last basketball season.

Is there an athlete – or anyone else – who inspires you? Bo Johnson, that’s kind of self-explanatory, and Reis Smith. Reis is an 18-year-old special needs kid from Gibraltar that I ran the Turkey Trot with. The doctor said he wouldn’t be able to run it, and he did.

What’s your favorite sports team to watch? The Wisconsin Badgers – all of their sports.
