PMF Accepting Applications for College Scholarship

The Peninsula Music Festival (PMF) is currently accepting applications for its $3,000 college scholarship. Information and applications are available from the guidance and music departments of each of the Door County schools as well as the festival’s website: musicfestival.com, click on Education and Community Engagement.

Each year PMF awards a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior who desires to further his or her education in music. The recipient must be an outstanding music student, who has demonstrated his or her ability as a performer and has shown a sustained interest in music-related activities. Also, the student must major or minor in music while attending college.

Applicants must write an essay outlining his or her qualifications, including accomplishments in music, future plans, academic achievements, high school transcripts and any other information he or she feels is appropriate for this music scholarship. Letters of recommendation must be sent from a music professional and from the student’s high school principal. The deadline for applications is April 11 with notification of the recipient no later than May 5.

In addition to the $3,000 college scholarship, PMF makes Summer Music Awards available to each school. These awards are given each spring to music students who are freshmen, sophomores, or juniors. One award will be offered to students in each of the five Door County public schools. Students interested in receiving Summer Music Awards should speak to their band and/or choir teachers.
