Poetry Series Showcases Former State Poet Laureate

Marilyn L. Taylor, a former poet laureate of both Wisconsin and the city of Milwaukee, will be the next featured poet in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Door County’s Emily Dickinson Poetry Series on Sept. 14, 7 pm.

Taylor, currently of Madison, has authored eight collections of poetry, and her new collection, Outside the Frame: New and Selected Poems, was released in 2021. Her work has appeared in Poetry, Able Muse, Measure and The American Scholar, and she has earned a number of awards in competitions. Taylor presents readings and independent workshops, is a contributing editor for the poetry journals Verse-Virtual and Third Wednesday, and edited the recent anthology Love Affairs at the Villa Nelle.

Following Taylor’s reading, an open mic will allow others to read their poetry. Then attendees can meet Taylor during a concluding reception at the fellowship’s building, 10341 Water St. (Hwy 42) in Ephraim.
